Glenwood Springs Real Estate

Demographics • Glenwood Springs

Nestled in a beautiful mountainous valley, Glenwood Springs sits on the western slope of Colorado as a hub to Aspen (approximately 40 minutes southeast), Vail (45 minutes east) and Grand Junction (90 minutes west). Glenwood Springs is situated at the confluence of the Roaring Fork and the Colorado Rivers at the west end of Glenwood Canyon.

When the Utes were relocated in 1882, the town sprang up, catering to the rich from around the world who came to soak in the hot springs pool. Today, people come for the history and hot springs as much as the rugged and beautiful surroundings. Glenwood Canyon has a 9-mile bike path and rafters enjoy the white waters of the Colorado River flowing through the canyon. This area is also popular with spelunkers (cave explorers) because of the number of caves and one of the largest underground rivers in the country. The White River and Gunnison National Forests as well as four wilderness areas can be easily reached for day hikes or cross-country skiing.

This wonderful mountain town boasts shopping like you would find in many small towns. Glenwood Springs is the only town in the Roaring Fork Valley that has ‘big box' stores. It even has a shopping mall and a Walmart. There is another shopping center under construction that will have a couple of ‘big box' stores.

Glenwood Springs is a thriving community where families attend free concerts in the park during the summer. The real estate market in Glenwood Springs is very diverse from old town Victorians to beautiful homes situated along the banks of the Roaring Fork River or beside a fairway at the Ironbridge golfing community. Glenwood Springs real estate continues to be in high demand for those wanting to enjoy living in a small mountain community situated between two of the best ski resorts in Colorado, Aspen and Vail.
